The Clarks Hill Fish For Life Foundation strives to help children and those battling cancer. In one way or another cancer will affect every one of us at some point in our lives. It can truly be a devastating crisis to overcome. Children are our future! Unfortunately everyday more of America's youth is neglected and abused. In 2010 a small group of avid bass fishermen from Augusta Georgia came to this realization; they decided to act! Action meant fishing for a cause. The cause was cancer research and helping local citizens in need, especially children. The group combined the sport of bass fishing with the idea of helping the less fortunate. The Clarks Hill Fish For Life Foundation was born.
The Clarks Hill Fish For Life Foundation is a nonprofit association of anglers made up of concerned citizens for the benefit of helping others. The foundation hosts three bass tournaments per year which take place at Wildwood Park in Columbia County Georgia on Clarks Hill Lake. These bass tournaments and the participants help raise funds for the foundation. The foundation is a charitable organization as defined by section 501(C)3 of the IRS Tax Code. This means that the foundation can accept tax deductable contributions from donors. The foundation does not operate to benefit any private interest or one person, but rather to support those who are suffering.
With the help of the general public, our valuable sponsors, volunteers, and yes, bass fishermen, the foundation has:
•Helped a cancer patient travel a great distance to receive treatment
•Gifted funds to help in cancer research and prevention
•Assisted a local family after they lost their home in a house fire
•Awarded two educational scholarships to two different students
•Given away hundreds of toys to less fortunate children
•Provided funds to the Columbia County Exchange Club to benefit The Child Advocacy Center
•Contributed funds to support Wildwood Park
The Fish For Life Foundations future is bright and its board of directors has high expectations. We will continue to grow stronger, helping more and more people in need, both children and those battling cancer. We will continue to recruit fantastic sponsors and helpful supports in order to help us in this effort. We will save more and more children from physical and sexual abuse. We will continue raising awareness for children who are abused and neglected. We will keep reminding the public that our children are our future!
We ask you to commit one act of kindness that will help abused children and cancer sufferers in our community. Maybe it will be to donate a few dollars, or some toys, or perhaps your time; regardless, one act will help our cause immensely! Please visit How You Can Help now! Contribute now, monthly; whenever you can, whatever you can every little bit helps!
